If anyone has taken any time to read my blogs they must have read WHY CHRISTIANITY SHOULD EMBRACE HOMOSEXUALITY. My views regarding the Christian treatment of homosexuals (historically) submit that homosexuals have been treated unfairly. It is my belief that instead of rejecting homosexuals we should welcome them with grace and truth. Treating them like reprobate outcasts will not accomplish anything. Instead, we should treat them like Jesus treated His culture’s equally notorious individuals, such as: the adulteress, the tax collector, the Samaritan, and the leper.
Jesus being known as a “friend of sinners” wasn’t intended to be a compliment, but it was intended (from His end) to be an example. Christ’s extension of mercy to the “worst of us” is most definitely a microcosm of God’s overall extension of grace and mercy (through Christ) to the entire human race.
Homosexuality is best addressed through the grace, mercy, and truth of the Gospel (this is the ONLY way they could ever be convinced of the truth). However, as a result of the LGBT’s rise to power in recent years and the significant dissolution of Christian values throughout the United States, Christians are now the ones under assault, and this seems to require a more aggressive approach in confronting the assault so that we can ensure the perpetuation of religious liberty to our posterity.
Christian businesses are on the front lines of the counter-offensive coordinated by the progressive elites and their LGBT allies (I guess Donald Trump isn’t the only one “using anger and old hatreds” to change the landscape of America). Gay couples, in various scenarios, have been targeting Christian businesses and it has led to a point where Christians are now being threatened; paying thousands of dollars; and/or losing the businesses they’ve built for simply declining to participate in their gay wedding or civil union. From bakers to commercial property owners, Christian businesses have been penalized by the state for upholding traditional Christian morality. This is America’s latest get-rich-quick scheme.
All a gay couple has to do is target a Christian business, request their services (knowing they won’t offer it), and once the Christian business denies them service for their ceremony (for reasons of conscience) they call the Human Rights Commission and file a lawsuit where they almost always win large sums of money. This has been going on for years, and now it has happened again in Illinois.
For some reason Christians are consistently under attack from the progressives and the LGBT community. They are acknowledged as bigots, homophobes, extremists, Neanderthals and every other derogatory title one can think of. Interestingly, the same progressives and LGBTers that vociferously attack Christians are ironically empathetic and supportive of Muslims throughout the United States and the world. They hate Christians, and seek to destroy them, for simply refusing to accept their enforced ‘tolerance,’ but protect Muslims who participate in a religion that is responsible for the deaths of thousands of homosexuals (via decapitation, stoning, or being thrown off roofs) all over the world (This isn’t the work of some outlandish extremists, but the work of men following the Qur’an). It seems a bit hypocritical and sinister to me. It seems there’s a larger agenda in the works here.
Now, when state governments attempt to protect these Christians from the onslaught, the fortune 500 companies, and all the political and corporate bullies the LGBT community can muster, threatens to isolate and destroy any state or local government that would pass laws to protect Christians from such sinister actions.
There have even been city mayors and state governors with enough gall to command their citizens from traveling to states that would consider such horrible “discrimination.” Do you see the problem here? This is the work of tyrannical oligarchies that seek to undermine the will of the people by violent threats. Unfortunately, it has been working for years because we have “conservative” leadership that lacks the back-bone to fight against such thugs (another reason people love Trump).
I have never experienced more hatred and intolerance from any other group than the people (who supposedly fight for love and tolerance) found in the halls of the LGBT kingdom. Their tactics are suitable only for Communist and Socialist intimidators that have sought throughout history to rip liberty from the hands of the people. They hate free speech and religious liberty (and all liberty for that matter), and will destroy anyone who disagrees with them – whether it be their reputation or their wallet or maybe worse.
For Christians, this isn’t something new. It might be new to American Christians, but it certainly isn’t new to Christians in other areas around the world and throughout history. We have been persecuted – jailed, beaten, and killed – for centuries because of the Gospel. Jesus warned us of such a response and so did the Apostle Paul .
So, how should we respond? The best thing we can do is not to react, but to act through the Gospel. Our responsibility is to respond in such a way that the Gospel and the Lord Jesus Christ is glorified. Paul tells us, “
“Never pay back evil with more evil. Do things in such a way that everyone can see you are honorable. Do all that you can to live in peace with everyone.
Dear friends, never take revenge. Leave that to the righteous anger of God. For the Scriptures say,
‘I will take revenge;
I will pay them back,’
says the Lord.
‘If your enemies are hungry, feed them.
If they are thirsty, give them something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap
burning coals of shame on their heads.’
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.”
Jesus tells us, similarly, “If someone slaps you on the right cheek, offer the other cheek also. If you are sued in court and your shirt is taken from you, give your coat, too”
This doesn’t mean we lay down and die and refuse attempts to fight for our liberties. What it does mean, however, is that in fighting for liberty we should never lose our Christianity.
The glory and witness of the Lord Jesus Christ is worth far more than any business or bank account. It’s even worth more than liberty.
